The Premier League has talent in abundance these days with players all over the world being attracted to play in the best league in the world but we ask - Who is the best central midfielder in the Premier League?
First is Liverpool's Steven Gerrard. Although getting a bit old now, he definitely hasn't lost it, as he showed at the Euro's, being one of England's best players throughout. It doesn't matter if he is out of form or not, you can still see that deep down he is a quality player. His long range shooting is excellent and consistent. He is an all round midfielder who can tackle, challenge in the air, pass and shoot. He is let down by the amount of injuries nowadays but when he returns from the injuries he always shows his worth. A great leader and role model.
Next, Yaya Toure of Manchester City. The lanky Ivorian was a key figure in Manchester City's title-winning season last campaign. He dominated games and chipped in with 6 league goals. He is a great athlete showing the perfect combination of pace and strength as he flies across the pitch while opponents bounce off him. He has the ability to win games when employed in his best position and did so a number of time last season.
Another Manchester City player in the running is Spaniard David Silva. Silva is a crafty midfielder who likes to create things, he doesn't do much in terms of helping defensively. He weaves in and out of opponents with the ball almost glued to his feet before slipping through a deadly pass for his team-mate to finish. This is emphasised by the fact that in the league last season, he managed 18 assists, showing just how important he is to his team.
Also in the list is Tottenham's Scott Parker. The hardworking midfielder doesn't stop running all game and never fails to put his body on the line. He never gives up or gives the ball away. Not just talented at winning the ball, he has quality on the ball too in being able to bring the ball forward to set up an attack. A tenacious tackler he throws himself in, always leads by example and again a brilliant role model.
Another Englishman is Chelsea's Frank Lampard. He is one of the best goalscoring midfielders around reaching double figures every single season since 2003-2004, what an achievement. He has a great eye for a pass and is undoubtedly one of the best penalty takers around. His number of assists is also impressive, a box to box midfielder who is always a threat from the edge of he box.
In conclusion, I feel that the best is Yaya Toure. He is a brilliant athlete and the complete midfielder who dragged Man City through some games last season.
